Cameron Galloway, Civic Leader

Cameron Galloway is a 22 year-old senior cross country and track field athlete at Kentucky State University. He currently serves KSU in many leadership roles that demonstrate his dedication to the community and beyond.

Cameron has demonstrated a true passion to advocate for children in foster care. Starting at the age of two, Cameron had been a part of the foster care system and understands how it falls short of meeting the needs of the youth it serves. Cameron can recall times where he found it difficult to live a normal “kids’ life” due to lack of consistency – stable housing, family ties and friends.

Over the years Cameron has learned to embrace his struggle and use it as fuel to drive his advocacy work. His mission is to encourage and inspire other youth to see success after trials and tribulations. Cameron’s most recent work in advocacy resulted in the passing of Kentucky’s House Bill 158, The Foster Care Youth Bill of Rights. The Bill addresses the need for children to be safe, healthy and secure while receiving quality education. While working to pass HB 158 Cameron learned how important his voice is and how it can bring awareness and change to impact current and future generations.

Enlisted in the Army, Cameron is also a contracted cadet in the Kentucky State University ROTC program and will graduate in May 2021 in his fifth year as a second lieutenant in the army.
