Alyssa Wruble, Courageous Student-Athlete
Alyssa Wruble is a star hockey player, who is a member of multiple teams. She often trains on the ice two-times per day and does an additional two gym sessions. This past year, she was living away during the week to train on an all-girls team, utilizing virtual school. But at a club game at home, things were different. During a game, fans from the opposing team chanted against her, told her she had male body parts, and held up a sign asking for a gender reveal. Being a solid tough player both physically and mentally, she rose above what was happening around her and was able to score two goals during the game. She is a true and dedicated athlete who plays with heart and spirit.
The world of women's hockey is lucky to have Alyssa Wruble as part of the sport. She recently committed to play for the University of Maine, which hosts an NCAA Division I Women's Team in the Hockey East Conference. In addition, her team, the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers took the championship at the 'Burgh Thanksgiving Girls Fest.
Alyssa is certainly courageous, but she is a role model for young girls who want to play any sport.
